Defining a Stroke

A stroke can happen due to a blood clot. The clot blocks a blood vessel and it results in a stroke or a brain attack. Also, if a blood vessel bursts, then also a stroke can happen. As, when the vessel breaks, it disrupts the flow of blood to a certain section of the brain.

Hence, strokes can fall under two major categories. One is an ischemic stroke which happens when the vessel is blocked. And, the other one is a hemorrhagic stroke, which happens to the breaking or bursting of the blood vessel. It is also known as a brain bleed. However, ischemic stroke is the most common type of stroke whereas hemorrhagic is not very common. To save someone experiencing a stroke, it is essential to understand the symptoms of a stroke.
